As independent media creators, we take pride in being the driving force behind our own content. We are the writers, editors, photographers, and publishers, bringing you fresh and diverse perspectives every week.

Mike's Journey: From the Streets to Community Advocate
Born and raised in Lansing, Michigan, Mike's early life was marked by challenges and choices that led him down a tumultuous path. After facing legal troubles in his youth, Mike experienced a turning point that shifted his focus towards positive change.
Despite a rocky start, Mike found stability through employment, family, and community engagement; building a successful career, became a dedicated youth sports coach, a licensed firefighter EMT, and became heavily involved in our community.
Driven by a desire to make a difference, Mike co-founded The Village Lansing; a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to combating gun violence, leveraging his personal growth and established trust within the community. He is currently the CEO of the Lansing Empowerment Network, a community-driven organization focused on reducing gun violence, creating youth opportunities, and strengthening neighborhoods in Lansing through collaboration, education, and actionable,, cross-sector partnerships.
As a community advocate, Mike not only champions police and policy reform but also actively supports young adults privately and publicly. His credibility and relationships with those impacted by violence have positioned him as a trusted figure in our community working to create positive change in Lansing.
Erica's Journey: A Leader in Community Advocacy
Erica was born and raised in Lansing, MI and considers herself an Eastside kid, that grew up on the Southside. Her work is rooted in a deep belief that real change happens when communities come together to address the root causes of the challenges they face. She has dedicated her time to community centered and community led work around
As the co-founder of The Village Lansing, a leader within the Lansing Empowerment Network, and a Board member of the MI Lupus Foundation, Erica works alongside residents, organizations, institutions, and community leaders to create intentional, community driven approaches to public safety and well being. Her work focuses on addressing violence as a public health issue and empowering people and communities with the tools, information, and connections to take ownership of transformation of Lansing. Her work is deeply personal as well as profession. Living with Lupus has strengthened her perspective on the importance of using your voice. She approaches all that she does with honestly and determination, and recognizes that meaningful change requires persistence and the willingness to challenge systems that are not working for the people they are meant to serve.
